The MYP Team met on June 21, 2021, for our annual Planning Meeting. We covered a number of business items: evaluating the 2020-2021 season; drafting the Calendar of Events for the upcoming 2021-2011 season; job assignments, new Team Member nominations; reviewing the Teen Roster, etc. But one of the big items is choosing the theme for our 2021-2022 season.
Team members suggest different scripture passages to discuss, and then votes on which one sets the right tone for us. This year, the following passage spoke to us :
“Rise up; this matter is in your hands. We will support you, so take courage and do it.” (Ezra 10:4)
This theme seems to be the perfect inspirational theme for us, coming off a season where almost all of our events were provided over Zoom conferencing. If our youth are the future of the Church, they must hear the call to ‘rise up’ and ‘take courage.’ As always, the MYP Community will support them, and our events will provide them the tools to strengthen their faith.
As well, the Team is challenged to ‘rise up.’ Many of our most dedicated teens graduated at the end of the 2020-2021 season—amazing young adults who attended all our Zoom calls and were open to what we presented. The Team needs to encourage the remaining teen members to invite friends. We will need to recruit for new teens to join—through outreach, word of mouth and invitation. The Team is committed to bringing the MYP to teens as long as they show up. With 48 years completed, we aren’t slowing down! The Team will continue planning monthly events for our teens, as well as creating opportunities to bring our MYP Community together. Our time during the pandemic showed us that we need to be together more than ever.
We ask you to ‘rise up’ and stay connected—through Facebook, social media, all ways! Please lead your friends you met from the MYP back to the community, as we draw closer to our 50th Anniversary Celebration. Please stay committed to the MYP as this wonderful Team continues to ‘support you!’
