MYP GameNight—October 21, 2022, at Holy Trinity Church in Whitestone, NY By Tom Leavens

The MYP hosted their annual GameNight Event on Friday, October 21, 2022, at Holy Trinity Church in Whitestone, NY. Combining teens from the MYP with Holy Trinity’s Confirmation class made the event one of the largest in some time! The event was rectored by Tom Leavens, and the team were Dina DePaola, John Fodera, Eileen Haggerty, Kerin Kriegsman, Mary Leavens, Jean Pedri & Diana Roach.

After an opening Prayer Service and icebreaker, the teens became part of the “MYP Amazing Race.” They were placed in groups of 3 or 4 and presented with a series of challenges at a number of different stations. The stations were inspired by the Amazing Race TV Show with names like, “NOT SQUEAMISH,” & “20/20 HINDSIGHT.” There were a lot of laughs and competitiveness amongst the teens!  After that, they played Pictionary & Concentration. All the games had Catholics themes to them.

The evening concluded with a Prayer Service that centered on the first letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians, starting with, “There are different kinds of spiritual gifts.” This was a tie-in to last month’s event & the MYP theme for this year. Like last month’s event, the teens & Team were encouraged to complete slips that recognized the gifts of other group members & entered into the MYP Prayer Box. Overall, the evening was a huge success and tremendous fun for our teens!
