On Friday, March 10, 2023, the MYP hosted an event focused on the Stations of the Cross. The event was held at Holy Trinity Church in Whitestone, NY, and rectored by Diana Roach & Tom Leavens. The
team was Cathy Bischoff Weinbaum, Dina DePaola, John Fodera, Eileen Haggerty & Jean (Bena) Pedri.
The event started with a video presentation that discussed the origins of the Stations. Then, the team & teens went to Holy Trinity Church where they participated in the Youth Stations of the Cross
with the parish community. We returned to the Rectory basement and asked the teens to write down which station they felt the most connection to. This led to a Large Group discussion, where teens &
team shared their choices and were asked to share what impacted them about that Station.
The teens were given a name of another MYP member in attendance and asked to write a prayer for that person, using their chosen Station as a theme. As the teens brought their prayers to the MYP
Prayer Box, they were given a Stations of the Cross prayer card & a small, silver cross to help them remain mindful of the Lenten season. The evening concluded with a Prayer Service, asking, “Lord, guide us to good works.”
This was a very inspiring event for teens & team, and a great way to strengthen commitments to this Lenten season.
