The MYP held their Opening Day event, “Live In Peace & Be Holy,” at Holy Trinity Church in Whitestone, NY, on Friday, September 27, 2024. The event was rectored by Tom Leavens, and the Team Members were Nan Adams, Jean (Bena) Pedri, Dina DePaola, John Fodera, Kerin (Carty) Kriegsman, Mary Leavens, Megan McComiskey & Sarah Pavon.
The event focused on our theme for the season, and we are grateful for the support of Holy Trinity Religious Education for inviting their Confirmation class to participate. After the icebreaker, Kerin gave a beautiful talk that centered on living with peace in our everyday lives = “Peace is so important in your home, at your job, and in all areas of your life. Where do you need to make peace in your home, at your job, or in another area of your life?”
The Small Groups had discussions with “Would You Rather” scenarios, and the event concluded with a Prayer Service on peace & social justice—a great way to start the season!
