MYP GameNight—Friday, October 23, 2020, over Zoom Conferencing By Tom Leavens

The MYP hosted their annual GameNight Event over Zoom Conferencing on Friday, October 23, 2020. Our teens were presented with a number of games run by Team Members (and one from an MYP Teen). Tom Leavens was the rector for the event & Team Members included Diana Roach, Dina DePaola, Cathy Bischoff Weinbaum, Mary Leavens, Eileen Haggerty & Megan McComiskey.

The first game, hosted by Eileen Haggerty, was, “Who Wants to Be a Bible-Aire.” Teens took turns sitting in the “Hot Seat” and were able to answer themselves or use options: the 50/50, ask a Team member for help or ask the teens on the call for help. All questions were questions from the Bible. After teens gave their final answer, Eileen played the appropriate dramatic music. No real winner but everyone seemed to get all the answers correct!

The second game, hosted by MYP Teen Shannon Kelly, was an online game called Kahoot! After both teens & Team Members logged into the game, we all competed in answering Catholic themed questions. Points were given for correct answers & speed in answering. It was very competitive but a lot of fun.

The third game, hosted by Megan McComiskey, was “What’s My Line?” Teens volunteered to be a famous character from the Bible (assigned to them secretly through the Zoom Chat) & the teens asked ‘yes’ or ‘no’ questions to guess who they were.

The evening concluded with a Prayer Service that included several Scripture passages. After each passage was read aloud by a teen, everyone replied with, “God help me run the race I have to run;  with patience & my eyes fixed on Jesus. Amen.”

The MYP continues to create meaningful events that strengthen our teens’ faith (and learn many things about being Catholic). We’ll continue our monthly events on Zoom conferencing until we can all be together again. Thanks to our generous team who remain committed!!!
