MYP Christmas Project – TREMENDOUS GENEROSITY!

On December 22, 2020, the MYP reached out to family & friends with a request: “Every year, the MYP asks our teens to bring gifts to our Christmas Day event for teenagers at a family inn or homeless shelter in Queens. We wrap the gifts and deliver them before Christmas and, with Team donations, we deliver boxes! These teens don’t normally get anything (usually the younger kids get donations, not this age group). This year, with COVID 19, we could not do this service. But Diana Roach won’t give up on these teens = 42 teens living at a Salvation Army shelter in Briarwood, NY. Diana will be buying & delivering Target Gift Cards to these teens. If possible (and it has to be done quickly), you can Venmo Diana money, any amount, toward the purchase of these gift cards. We know this is a tough year for all of us – you know what it’s like for these families. If you can, do your best – and thank you for your generosity!”

Well, the response was TREMENDOUS with so many donations sent in 24 hours! Here’s Diana’s message to all of you:

“Congratulations and a HUGE Thank You to this MYP Family!  Due to your overwhelming generosity we were able to gift each of the 42 young men and women at Briarwood Residence a $50 Target gift card for Christmas. The idea to reach out to you all was inspired. And you came SHINING through! Within less than 24 hours we raised over $2,000! The main theme at MYP Christmas Teen Zoom Event earlier this month concentrated on  ‘being the light’ for others during this Advent/Christmas season. Thanks to all the donations, the MYP has done just that. Given some light to those who need it most! I am simultaneously     humbled and proud to know and be a part of this group. God bless each of you and may you all continue to ‘be the light’ the world needs. Merry Christmas everyone.

And thank you again for your generosity and continued support of this program.

Most Sincerely,

Diana
