On Friday, December 17, 2021, the MYP held its annual Christmas Day event at Holy Trinity Church in Whitestone, NY. The event was rectored by Dina DePaola & Diana Roach.
The event began with dinner (thanks to The Clinton Restaurant) and an icebreaker where we had the teens pair off with someone they didn’t know well. They were instructed to first take each other’s food order and, then, serve other. Dinner was followed by creating personal Christmas ornaments. Diana gave a talk with the theme, “Why Do We Give Gifts,” that led to our service project: assembling gift bags of food items for families in need in the College Point area. Through a request on our Facebook page, the MYP raised $3,000.00 to help eighty-five families with groceries this Christmas season. The Holy Trinity Youth Group (which supports the St. Fidelis Food Pantry & others) was so appreciative of our fundraising. All who contributed were truly a part of our Christmas event! The event concluded with desserts and a beautiful prayer service.
It continues to be challenging for the MYP to bring teens together – our young people have so many personal obligations & priorities. Yet, we continue to make the MYP available and look for ways to bring Christ to our world. We thank EVERYONE that was a part of this event = planning, attending, donating, praying. You are in our prayers and we ask you to keep us in yours!
