MYP Teen Retreat at St. Josaphat’s Retreat House, Glen Cove, NY —May 5-7, 2017

The MYP hosted their Teen Retreat weekend on May 5-7, 2017, at St. Josaphat’s Retreat House in Glen Cove, NY. The general theme was, “To develop our relationship with Jesus, we must keep the Good News in our minds, on our lips and in our hearts.” This retreat is a classic one, used twice in the past. I was the rector of the weekend, working with the great Team of Jean Bena, Dina DePaola, Gary McComiskey, Megan McComiskey & Diana Roach. Visits from John Fodera, Eileen Haggerty, Laurie Camporeale-Hallick, Irene & Joe Roach were added blessings, and Fr. Bob Lauder was our celebrant for Mass. The teens were challenged with great lessons from the talks and activities provided, as well as spending time with their assigned committees to enhance prayer, Mass & Saturday Night’s entertainment.

This weekend was amazing in so many ways. The teens were committed to everything given to them = from the crazy Icebreaker that moved them to many stations around the building; to the recurring activity that required refection & creativity; to small group discussions that challenged their faith; to the comedic excellence they created for Saturday’s entertainment for all of our enjoyment. Most importantly, it was apparent how God is always in it—and we’re blessed to have the MYP!
