The MYP will be hosting their 20th Coffeehouse on Saturday, February 20, 2010, at 7:30 PM.  It will be held at St. Mel's Church, with proceeds contributing to the continued work of the MYP of NEQ program.  Please contact Andrea D. at (718) 461-0367 for tickets/reservations.  The night will be a celebration of the program & our teens.  Tickets are $10.00 each.

The MYP Team experienced two loses over the last two weeks.  Ben Fabrizi's mother, Mary Fabrizi, passed away from health issues that she struggled with for many years.  Cathy Bischoff-Weinbaum's father, John Bischoff, passed away after a long battle with cancer.  Please keep Ben, Cathy & their families in your prayers during this difficult time.

The MYP held their first event of 2010 at Holy Trinity Church on Friday, January 29th.  MYP ShowNight was rectored by PJ Macari, Tom Leavens & John Fodera.  Twenty teens attended the event that included the Merry-Go-Round icebreaker, watching an episode of "Joan of Arcadia," followed by discussion & skits.  We ended the evening with a prayer service.  Holy Trinity generously allowed us the use of their Community Room & Chapel in the church.  Thanks to all who helped make this evening a huge success!!!
 
MYP CHRISTMAS DAY - Friday, December 11, 2009 at the Immaculate Conception Center

The MYP hosted their annual CHRISTMAS DAY event on Friday, December 11, 2009, at the Immaculate Conception Center in Douglaston, NY.  The event was rectored for Jennifer McComiskey & Irene Roach.  It was attended by twenty-two teens (from the parishes of St. Anastasia's, St. Mel's, Holy Trinity, St. Kevin's, St. Robert's & Holy Family).  After a song-filled icebreaker & delicious dinner, the teens watched a short video and were presented a talk by Gary McComiskey.  The small groups created gift baskets containing infant items that were to be delivered the St. Fidelis Mother & Child Residence in College Point, NY.  The evening ended with a meditation & prayer service.
 
MYP 'LET US GIVE THANKS' EVENT - Friday, November 20, 2009 at Holy Family Church

The MYP hosted 'LET US GIVE THANKS' on Friday, November 20, 2009, at Holy Family Church.  The event was attended by seventeen teens (from St. Anastasia's, St. Mel's, St. Robert's, St. Kevin's, Holy Family & Holy Trinity) and rectored by Andrea DiBello & Christina DePaola.  The teens were presented talks from PJ Macari & Diana Roach, as well as guest/former team member Darlene Attanasio Schmitt.  Small groups were asked to compose letters to Darlene's sister, Dina (& her family) to support her pending troop deployment to Iraq.  The night ended with a spirited game of charades as well as a moving prayer service.  
 
MYP SUPPORTS THE JDRF WALKATHON - Sunday, October 25, 2009

The MYP participated in the walkathon to support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) on Sunday, October 25, 2009, at Flushing Meadows Park.  MYP teens & team members were part of the team for Jackson Lerner, son of Lauren Norton Lerner (former MYP Teen & Team Member).  The event was rectored by Cathy Bischoff Weinbaum & Diana Roach.
 
MYP CHOICES DAY - Friday, October 16, 2009 at St. Kevin's Church

The MYP Opening Day event for the 2009-2010 season was CHOICES DAY.  The event was rectored by Tom Leavens & Gary McComiskey and held at St. Kevin's Church on Friday, October 16, 2009 (rescheduled from 09/13/09).  Six teens attended the event that included talks, discussions & a prayer service.
